Phase I Examination

The Phase I Examination is attended by all candidates who have made an online application for UPSC NDA Exam 2016. This phase includes two papers, namely, Mathematics and General Ability. Each paper has a duration of two and a half hour.
The mathematics section includes the curriculum which is commonly taught in 10 + 2 level in a Government recognized school. Some of the common topics are- Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Matrices and Determinants, Geometry, etc.
The other paper consists of numerous subjects. A candidate needs to answer them part wise and a total of 2 parts are there in the paper. Part A is for English and Part B represents General Knowledge. However, Part B is segregated into six more sections which are mentioned below:
Chemistry
General Science
Physics
Geography
Social Science
Current Events

Phase II Examination

The Phase II Examination for UPSC NDA Exam 2016 includes two different levels, namely, Screening Test and Second Level test. Under screening test, a candidate is tested through verbal as well as non-verbal questions. The objective of this exam is to test a candidate’s potential which reacting under pressure.
The second level exam consists of three different sections, which includes-
  1. Psychology test
  2. Group Testing Officer (GTO) test
  3. Personal Interview
Psychology test is the test of fitness for a candidate. He has to prove that he is physically fit and up for the challenges which is going to be thrown infront of him. In the GTO test, a candidate will be required to sit for group discussion where a random topic would be given and the candidate would be required to discuss on the same. The last exam is the personal interview where the final decision will be taken in terms of selecting the candidate for the given post.
All candidate must note the fact that the Phase I examination would be attended by all. Candidates who have cleared Phase I are eligible to sit for Phase II examination. In case, a candidate has not received a call letter for Phase II, then he is deemed to have been eliminated in the very first round.

At last, you are on the page from where your admit card can be downloaded easily. Simply enter your registration number and date of birth along with entering the displayed code. Click on then ‘submit’ button and your admit card will be downloaded automatically.

Step 2- Find the relevant link
Once you enter the website, you will find a lot of links. Among those links, you will be required to find the link which will allow you to make an online application for UPSC NDA Exam. Look at the bottom left part of the screen where a link named as ‘UPSC Online Applications’ is mentioned. Click on the same.
Step 3- Select your exam

Step 4- Click on Part I Registration

Step 7- Make Online Payment

Eligibility Criteria
The candidates who are appearing for the NDA exam 2016 are advised to check all the details of the exam including the eligibility criteria. The details of the eligibility criteria is mentioned below:
Nationality:
The candidates must be a:
  • a citizen of India , or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 01 January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Only unmarried candidates are allowed to write the NDA exam 2016.
Age:
(For NDA I 2016):
The candidates not born before 2nd July 1997 and not later than 1st July 2000 are eligible.
(For NDA II 2016):
The candidates not born before 2nd January 1998 and not later than 1st July 2001 are eligible.
Educational Qualifications:
For Indian Army wing of National Defence Academy: The candidates appearing for the exam must have passed or appearing class 12th from recognized board or university.
For Air force and Indian Navy: The candidates must have passed or appearing class 12th with physics and Mathematics from a recognized board or university.

Exam Pattern

The NDA exam consist of two papers: Mathematics and General ability test, below we have discussed both the papers in details.
Mathematics: The mathematics paper is of 300 marks and consist of multiple choice questions based on the syllabus of class 10th and 11th. The time allowed to write the paper is 2.5 hr.
General Ability: The General Ability test comprises of two section i.e. Section A and Section B. The section A is of English (200 marks) and Section B (400 marks) is of general knowledge.
The NDA 2016 admit card will be announced few weeks prior to the examination, in the official website of UPSC.
All the question are MCQ type and contain a negative marking for the wrong answers.

Selection Process:

The candidates are selected on the basis of their score in the written test followed by the SSB interview which generally last for 4-5 days. The candidates who successfully qualify the written exam are called for the SSB interview and after clearing all the rounds in the interview, the final merit list is prepared and the selection is done after the medical process and document verification.
