What is the recruitment Procedure of Sub Inspector in CBI

Interested candidates who are willing to be part of the prestigious organization Crime Branch of India can join the department through direct recruitment, deputation, promotion and limited departmental competitive examination. Recruitment in Group C posts such as Sub-Inspectors, Constables and Lower Division clerk in the department is made through Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Examination. The candidates need to successfully pass the two tier written examination, medical test and personal interview round in order to get the post of Sub Inspector in CBI.

  • Eligibility for SI in CBI :-

The candidates who are willing to be part of the department need to first fill the eligibility criteria. The candidates must undergo the required educational qualification and upper age limit carefully before applying for the post. Those candidates who could not meet the eligibility criteria are not allowed to take part in the recruitment examination. The candidates must have Graduation Degree from any recognized university/institute with at least 55% marks to apply for the CGL examination conducted by SSC. The candidates should be between 20 to 25 years of age as well, to be able to apply for the CGL examination. Almost 50% of the posts of SI in CBI are filled through Staff Selection Commission CGL examination. The rest of the 50% seats are filled through promoting departmental ASIs and limited departmental competitive examination.

  • Recruitment procedure for SI in CBI :-

The candidates need to undergo the two tier written examination followed by the medical examination and personal interview round conducted by the concerned recruitment authority. The physical fitness and attributes are also taken under consideration before the final selection of the candidates. The two tier written examination format is as given below:
  • Tier I Written Examination: The Tier I of the written examination consists of objective type questions with multiple choices for the candidates. The tier I written examination consists of General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension papers. Each of the papers carries 50 marks, making the total marks 200. The total time to solve the questions in this examination is 2 hours. The candidates need to pass the tier I written examination through scoring the required cut-off marks to move forward to the tier II written examination.
  • Tier II Written Examination: The Tier II of the written examination consists of objective type multiple choice questions. It consists of two papers with 200 marks each, for which candidates get 2 hours for each paper. The first paper carries 200 marks with 100 questions from Quantitative Ability to test the overall quantitative knowledge of the candidates. The other paper carries questions related to English Language and Comprehension, to test the knowledge of candidates in the language. The tier II written examination marks are counted for making the final list of selected candidates, after the personal interview round gets over.
  • Physical Standard of the Candidates: Along with the written tests the candidates must have desired physical attributes as well. The height of male candidates should not be less than 165 cms and their chest with expansion should not be less than 76 cms. The weight and vision of the candidates should be in tandem as well. For female candidates the height limit has been set to minimum 150 cms, while the weight needs to be in accordance with the height.

  • Personal Interview Round :-

The personal interview round is the final stage in the recruitment process. The candidates in the personal interview round are checked for their sharp analytical mind and awareness about a range of issues. Concentration level, discipline, logical and reasoning thinking, decision making ability and knowledge about the work profile in the candidates is tested, in the personal interview round.  The candidates must remain confident and show promise in their candidature in order to get through with the round.
